Apollo Mazengo

Apollo was born in Dodoma, Tanzania, and raised in Morogoro after his parents moved to Morogoro in 2000. He studied at Kikundi Primary School (2000-2006), Kibaha Secondary School (2007-2010), and Moshi Secondary School (2011-2013) before joining Sokoine University of Agriculture in 2013 to 2016, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science. Apollo has been a faithful member of Morogoro Bible Baptist Church, graduating from bible training for pastors, as he led and served in different kinds of ministries like teaching, preaching, leading worship, and being church treasurer. In 2012 he released his book titled Anzisha & Ongoza Huduma ya Vijana katika Kanisa (Start and Lead Youth Ministry in the Church) in order to help churches and their leadership understand how it is important to have church youth programs and how to lead them.

In 2017, God led him to move to Dar es Salaam and join the Grace Mission Internship program as an intern. GMI is a discipleship program for young men. After graduating from this program, with his passion for helping young people, he started working with Aaron Boon as Internship Leader, leading discipleship with young men, teaching them how to share the gospel, and how to start and lead a sustainable ministry. Apart from biblical trainings, Apollo uses his knowledge of agriculture to train interns, pastors, and people in the community how to farm. This is an important skill to teach others how to provide for their families and even fund their ministries. God has been using his agricultural knowledge and skills as the way to reach Muslims and those in the village where the Grace Mission Farm is located. It has been a blessing for our team to see many people hearing the gospel and coming to salvation through the relationship that was built through farming.

To extend his farming knowledge even further, and to reach more people, Apollo started writing a book about Urban Farming in November 2019, and the book was launched in May 2021 titled "Kilimo cha Mjini" which means Urban Farming. In the city of Dar, he is teaching urban farming and discipleship training seminars at Grace Mission Center, churches around the city, and in the communities. Apollo also is a leader as he is teaching at BTCP at Grace Mission Centre. This is a bible training program for pastors. God has been using Apollo as a vessel for His work and he is grateful and happy to serve Him through the Grace Mission for all these years. In both difficult and easier seasons, God has been leading and teaching him to depend on His promises.
